Just back from the markets in New York City and my dogs are still barking…Oh but it was so great to have a chance for a change of scenery, although seeing most of it from the backseat of a yellow cab if not walking across town.
I love, love, love the energy this city brings with each days dawn. It truly never stops. It seems with each year attending the fashion markets we can ear mark our trip with something very significant happening in the world. You know like where were you when the space shuttle blew up or where you were when President Kennedy was shot…(now I am really showing my age)..just ignore that one.
So here’s how I can mark my trips to NYC markets. Last May we walked through Times Square and noticed a bit of a hustle and bustle going on in one corner. Not thinking much of it we walked by and continued on to our hotel. Turning the news on before bed and there was Times Square and the talk of a bomb threat! Shocked we were to say the least. This year’s trip marks yet another landmark event we won’t forget. We arrived on Sunday anxiously waiting to beat the paths onward and forward to the markets and showrooms I had scheduled to visit. Upon going to sleep after a great evening out we again turned on the news. Low and behold they were talking about the capture of one of the greatest terrorist of all times. We just couldn’t believe what we were hearing. What again? Not again! Here we are in NYC and we are up against a week of having them check you’re ID every time we want to go in the elevator to our room. Better safe than sorry I guess!
All my efforts of scheduling and seeking out bead showrooms to walking the floors of the Javit Center, searching for amazing finished jewelry to bring back to make Cela Creations a Unique Boutique. Sure did pay off!
What finds I found! Loads of new semi-precious strands, clover shape Aventurine in pink and Chalcedony colors. Loose beads, clasps, findings, loose beads and a ton of amazing finished jewelry, new handbags and so much more! Come in soon to see all our findings from the Big Apple.
