Get your evil eye on!

Lately, the evil eye has been "all the rage" and I've got quite a few things in the boutique featuring it! When I was in New York I saw it EVERYWHERE! At all the different boutiques, shops and accessory shows. It was even mentioned in episodes of The Real Housewives of Orange County! I knew I had to bring lots of things back to the store that have the evil eye, because it is definitely getting big!
These beaded bracelets with the evil eye are really cute and fun. They are casual and every day wear. Lots of people wear these stacked together and we have many different styles here in the boutique, including peace signs, crescent moons and many other charms.
These evil eye rings are new to the store, in fact I just put them out this week! They come in gold and silver and are stretchy and adjustable to fit any finger. Again these are a lot of fun and a really cute unique piece of jewelry to own.
This is a braided evil eye bracelet. This is a very fun, more casual option to the evil eye trend. I see lots of people wearing many braided bracelets stacked together. Stacking bracelets seems to be a big trend this season too, and the braided bracelets are a great one to do it with.
These are some evil eye beads we carry in the boutique. We have a lot of unique evil eye beads so you can make your own interpretation of the evil eye trend, whether it be a necklace, bracelet or ring.

The evil eye isn't as evil as it sounds. It can be very pretty and delicate looking and go with lots of different things. The belief that the evil eye is worn to ward off evil spirits comes from way back and was believed by many different cultures. Historically it has been worn for many different reasons but the most common was to protect from evil and danger. Now it is worn as a great fashion statement and a fun piece of jewelry!

Flip Flop into summer

This week marked the first official week of summer (even though the weather did not reflect it) and to celebrate I've decided to post about our flip flops!
The flip flops come in black, brown and silver. Attached the front is a Swarovski crystal flower medallion. The flip flops come with various heel sizes and with both small and large medallions.
This pair of size 6 flip flops in silver are especially cute. The rose medallion on the front is large and really adds some flair to the sandals. The silver color is really neutral and goes with everything. I like these because they are not too overdone with crystals and embellishments, but just the right amount of sparkle.
These brown flip flops have a disc medallion on the front for a little more of a sophisticated look. All of the flip flops come in these sheer bags which make great gift bags and are a great thing to keep the sandals in during off seasons to keep them nice.

Get your flip flops today and get ready for summer! Maybe if we all start dressing like it is warm out the weather will follow! Fingers crossed :)

Angela's Favorite Picks

This week my favorite pick is the Chalcedony stone. This stone is a favorite of mine because I love the color, it is a beautiful shade of green that is so bright and happy and looks great on everyone. I got these stones on my New York trip at the accessory show. I was so excited to bring them to the boutique because they were one of the only summery things I found at that particular show. They are a very unique and interesting stone. Most of the things I bought at the accessory show were for the fall/winter seasons and I had to order them, but these stones and pieces were things I was able to take with me and sell in the boutique immediately.

These are the stones by themselves. They can be bought individually and used to make any type of jewelry. They can also be purchased to add a a jewelry piece and make it a little more special, or for custom pieces.

I found these bracelets from the same vendor. They have the chalcedony stone in a tear drop shape as the focal point of the bracelet, the white bracelet has a white onyx as the focal point. All of these are really great summer pieces and will go with any outfit. I especially love the one that is blue-green in color. This picture doesn't do the color of the stone justice, it is so bright in person!

I also brought these earrings back from the same New York vendor. These are different styles using the tear drop shaped stone. The smaller two use the chalcedony stone and the large one is a rose quartz. I think these earrings are very elegant and sharp. They are really a classic look that is always trendy.

I love bringing unique items like this to the boutique! These stones and pieces are really beautiful and are all great summer pieces. Hurry in and get some!

AC Designs

This is my favorite part of the boutique, it is what makes me unique as a store owner and what makes Cela Creations so special, unique and dear to my heart. Most people know that I offer beading classes and private beading parties. Everyone knows that I sell beads, by the strand and singly. But I don't think everyone knows that I make my own pieces, not just for custom orders, but I also design and create my own unique, one of a kind, pieces of jewelry.

My lifelong passion has been creating jewelry. I love to bead and spend a lot of time doing it. Creating a piece of jewelry is a true art and each of my pieces has a part of my personality and passion mixed in. I started Cela Creations out of my home, selling unique pieces that I had created to friends and family members. I did custom orders at the time but mostly people just loved to come see what I had and choose a piece they loved. Ten years later is when I opened this boutique in La Grange. It has given me the opportunity to be both a jewelry maker and purchaser. I sell my own unique creations and things that I have found through my travels. The boutique has helped me realize that jewelry in every form is my passion.

I want to share some of my hand made, one of a kind, creations with you. These pieces are all available at the boutique as well!
This grey pearl necklace is one of my favorite designs I have in the store at this time. It is trendy and classic at the same time. A very elegant piece it was created with a lot of detail and care.
This necklace was made with a unique polyester silk chain and a clover clasp. The large stone in the middle is a smokey quartz and there are also some fine quality aquamarine stones used.
These are two of my favorite necklaces. I wear them with everything and they always look good. They are both made with leather lacing. The tan necklace is made with fresh water white pearls that are 12-14 mm. The black necklace is made with fresh water peacock pearls, a very unusual color, and they are also 12-14mm.
This necklace is also one of my favorites. It is made with a slice agate as the focal point, hand wire wrapped peruvian opals and an oxydized silver chain. I had the peruvian opals for a while and wasn't sure what to use them with. They are so special and I wanted a really good idea for what to do with them. I found this sliced agate and knew immediately that this was what to put with the opals. It turned out to be such a unique and interesting piece and I love it!

Come by the boutique any time to see all of my original jewelry designs! I am so happy to be able to share them with all of my customers and friends!

New York Trip

I wrote this post a while back after a trip to New York. I forgot to post it then but I still wanted to share it with everyone, so here it is now. I hope you enjoy it!

Just back from the markets in New York City and my dogs are still barking…Oh but it was so great to have a chance for a change of scenery, although seeing most of it from the backseat of a yellow cab if not walking across town.
I love, love, love the energy this city brings with each days dawn. It truly never stops.  It seems with each year attending the fashion markets we can ear mark our trip with something very significant happening in the world.  You know like where were you when the space shuttle blew up or where you were when President Kennedy was shot…(now I am really showing my age)..just ignore that one.
So here’s how I can mark my trips to NYC markets.  Last May we walked through Times Square and noticed a bit of a hustle and bustle going on in one corner.  Not thinking much of it we walked by and continued on to our hotel.  Turning the news on before bed and there was Times Square and the talk of a bomb threat!  Shocked we were to say the least.  This year’s trip marks yet another landmark event we won’t forget.  We arrived on Sunday anxiously waiting to beat the paths onward and forward to the markets and showrooms I had scheduled to visit.  Upon going to sleep after a great evening out we again turned on the news.  Low and behold they were talking about the capture of one of the greatest terrorist of all times.  We just couldn’t believe what we were hearing. What again? Not again! Here we are in NYC and we are up against a week of having them check you’re ID every time we want to go in the elevator to our room.  Better safe than sorry I guess!
All my efforts of scheduling and seeking out bead showrooms to walking the floors of the Javit Center, searching for amazing finished jewelry to bring back to  make  Cela Creations a Unique Boutique. Sure did pay off!
What finds I found! Loads of new semi-precious strands, clover shape Aventurine in pink and Chalcedony colors. Loose beads, clasps, findings, loose beads and a ton of amazing finished jewelry, new handbags and so much more! Come in soon to see all our findings from the Big Apple.

Angela's Favorite Picks

All of the pieces I bring into the store are handpicked by me. I love each and every piece that I bring in, and I would wear them all myself, otherwise I wouldn't sell them in my store. Every once in a while I bring in something that I really love, pieces that are really special to me and I am especially excited about bringing to my customers. I am starting a new weekly post where I tell my followers about these special pieces and the story behind them. This week I am writing about these black diamond pendants that I recently brought into the store.
The story behind these unique pieces is really a great one! I got a necklace with one of these pendants on it for Christmas from my husband and since then customers have been asking about it and wanting me to carry the necklace in the store, so I have finally gotten them!

This all started when I was in Italy with my family about a year ago. We were out to eat at a restaurant one night and I started talking with another American lady who was from New York. Being a jewelry maker myself I always notice when someone has a very unique piece on. I immediately noticed her necklace with the crescent moon piece on it. It partially caught my eye because I recognized the piece from a very popular movie, you might have seen it too.
That's right, she was wearing the crescent moon necklace that fashion goddess Carrie Bradshaw herself wears in Sex and the City 2! I knew I had to have a piece like this. What a great, unique piece of jewelry.

When my husband gave the necklace to me for Christmas I was really excited. I didn't know that it would generate as much buzz with my customers as it did. After seeing the reaction I knew I had to get something like it during my visit to New York. I got these pendants on my trip   and I am so excited about bringing them to the store.
I got a variety of different pendants all in the same style as the necklace, two different size crescents, a disc and the evil eye. All of these pendants are genuine black diamond. The setting is pavé and the diamonds are set in oxydized white gold.

Come in and see these wonderful pendants! They are my favorite pick of the week this week!

Summer Colors

This year's spring/summer lines are full of bright colors and fun shapes. I brought some fun, colorful jewelry, scarves, headbands and handbags to the store this season to keep our customers current with the trends. Bright is trendy right now and so I selected some of the best pieces I could find in bright and brilliant shades to bring to you!
Here is a selection of some of my favorite bright pieces we have in the store right now. I especially love the rings in the bright orange and blue flower. The yellow earrings with the purple stone in the middle are another favorite of mine. They are very elegant and beautiful in person.

Stop by Cela Creations for more bright colorful fashions! I hope to see you soon!

Girl's Night Out Shop & Dine in La Grange

We had a fabulous night here last night! Our Girl's Night Out event offered specials and deals at several restaurants and shops on La Grange Rd. Lots of ladies came out for a night on the town and enjoyed some wine and treats along with exclusive deals here at Cela Creations!

We set the store up with some bright and fun decorations to get ready for the event. Despite the cold weather yesterday we are more than ready for the summer here at the store so we tried to keep the colors bright and fun to reflect the season and our moods! We set up a table with treats and wine so everyone could enjoy themselves and socialize a bit.

It got pretty crowded over here at some times during the night, but we were so excited to see everyone out to kick off the summer. Downtown La Grange is such a fun place to hang around in the summer, one of the reasons why I love this location so much, and last night was a little taste of the usual summer happenings on La Grange road.

Estelle and I spent a good portion of the evening helping customers find the perfect jewelry and accessories for their needs. It's always fun for us when we can help a friend find what they want and offer them something unique and trendy to take home!

Here are some pictures of loyal friends and customers who came out to support us last night. It seemed like everyone had a great time; we hope you all had as much fun as we did!
